About Mercari Fees

Mercari, a Japanese e-commerce platform, transitioned all fees from sellers to buyers, adhering to marketplace facilitator tax laws in most US states. This shift streamlines tax collection responsibilities and ensures compliance, with Mercari handling tax calculations, reporting, and remittance on behalf of third-party sellers.

Seller Fees: As of March 27, 2024, new listings on Mercari incur a 0% selling fee.

Buyer Fees: A service fee will be applied to purchases and displayed as part of the final price at checkout. This fee is non-refundable for buyers, contingent on return reasons. The buyer will also incur the sales tax and shipping costs. Check the discounted rates for prepaid labels here.

Transaction and Payment Fees: Mercari implements payment processing fees for buyers, effective March 27, 2024. This includes a $0.50 fee plus 2.9% of the transaction price, encompassing item price, shipping, service fee, and sales tax. Refunds or cancellations do not typically refund this fee.
